BRAZIL visit

For Poppe Braam DID-IT, there is a long history in Brazil.

In 1993 Terra Preservada was founded with the help of Poppe Braam DO-IT and Hans Friese Ciranda, 2 sister companies with DO-IT importing into Europe and Ciranda importing into the United States.

A project in southern Brazil, Parana around the Iguazu Natural Park, where existing agriculture was converted to organic for soy and tapioca with as rotation crops, beans corn and wheat.

There were some large farmers and cooperatives of small farmers participating in the project guided by experts from - IBD Instituto Bio Dynamico.

The goal was and is organic soy and tapioca for export and local marketing with the preservation of rainforest, biodiversity and habitats with social structures.

It is still a thriving project, since 2012 under the name Biorganica, in which Poppe is actively involved as DID-IT

On March 9, Poppe and Frouwkje Braam, DID-IT, along with Astrid Dossche of the Hobbit, supplier of organic soy products, left for Brazil to visit Biorganica and Tofutura.

The organic project is aimed primarily at the local market of Parana with the city of Curitiba. Some of the soy is processed for soybean oil, soy cake, and tofu. Exports are mainly soy for organic cattle feed. Tofutura was set up with Biorganica in 2012 with the expertise of Frederik Dossche of the Hobbit and Poppe Braam to meet local demand for tofu. The tofu is sold under the Samurai brand in organic stores and in supermarkets as organic tofu.
